Amber Westerman specializes in thoughtfully designed buildings that are energy and resource efficient as well as a delight in which to live and work. A commitment to a successful relationship with her clients and the contractors who contribute their talents is well known in Southwest Wisconsin where she practices. An appreciation for good design comes together with a firm understanding of current and historic construction materials and practices.
Prior to establishing Amber Westerman Design in 1998, she worked as a carpenter, a land surveyor, an estimator & expeditor of building materials, and as an architectural draftsman. Amber graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Architectural Technology in 1985. She has designed over 300 new homes and major building projects in Wisconsin.
Concurrent with her design practice, Amber serves on the Dodgeville Historic Preservation Commission. As project director, she produced the popular Walking Tour of Historic Dodgeville booklet. She helps organize events for Sustain Iowa County and the Green Squared Building Association. Business memberships include the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce, the Midwest Renewable Energy Association and the American Institute of Architects.
Her volunteer work includes the design of the 2007 Habitat for Humanity home in Spring Green, the 2008 Habitat for Humanity home in Dodgeville, and the relocation of the Floyd School on the grounds of the Iowa County Historical Society. She was instrumental in the design of Alley Stage, a new community theater in Mineral Point.
Amber shares her enthusiasm for architecture with students by participating in career education and job shadowing programs. She enjoys bringing physical form to new ideas and looks for ways to infuse her work with artistic expression.
